Firstly, I would like to start by saying I’m not an intellectual or anything like that. The goal of me even typing this, is having somewhere to put my thoughts where a soul can relate to them possibly. The focus of my blog post will be racism, with a primary goal to bring awareness, and also give my firsthand experience on what I’ve dealt with. For starters, I am black man, so just off that alone you will be able to roughly guess and gauge what I have been dealing with. Hopefully in some roundabout way, I can unify people through these post and eventually open a forum where people can share their stories and bring awareness and combat ignorance.
For my first situation, I want to talk about the N-Word pass. If you do not know what that is, it is when a black person gives a non-black person a pass to use the word. This has been around for many moons and it should not be new to anyone. I have a couple issues with that, and I feel like these are things people do not think about. For starters, I think generalization shows ignorance or lack of care and maybe racism. For example, if you receive a N-Word pass from someone in California, why are you using the word around someone in New York around people who do not know you and the person who gave it to you. Now, I wish I could control who says the word but I can not, but if you are going to use said N-Word pass, I think you should be mindful enough to know that it should probably only be used around your personal social circle. Lastly, we are not telepathically linked, just because one black person allowed you to say that doesn’t mean we all are accepting of it.
